Rahul! A long-lost childhood friend working for a German company for the past 3 years is finally visiting now! I spent my entire childhood with him and was eagerly waiting for his arrival to Bangalore.

I picked him from the airport and were recalling our old times and how time flies. As we were thinking about our mischiefs here, we talked about the things we enjoyed the most and suddenly a thought flashed both of us instantly, the haunted house.

As we grow up, we tend to be curious about everything around us. We show a keen interest in knowing how, what, where, when, who. The same thing happened to us and we thought of giving a visit to that house but it was already midnight by then but Rahul was not in a condition to let go away the thought so easily. So, we made an attempt to visit the place full of curiousness on one side but fear ruling the other end.

The blinking street light in front of the house made it scarier than ever. I held his fist tight and intended to go back. The street light rays on the building discouraged me to enter. As soon as we came nearer to the compound of that horrific house, we saw the door opening, which alarmed us, without even jumping into action. For Rahul, curiosity ruled over fear. He took a lead. We somehow backed each other and stepped into the house. We were continuously hearing a sound from a distance with a duration of a minute sounding similar to that of a door banging, we were terrified by that. It was pitch dark inside and could not see a thing there. Fortunately, the flashlight of our smartphones helped us to walk past few things.

As we went further taking small steps, we noticed there were three rooms. While entering one of the rooms, suddenly we heard a noise of someone whining in pain, we searched the whole house but couldn’t spot a single human being excluding us, frightened by this we started to depart from the scary house with panic whirled around us. As soon as we started running out saw someone strange following us and started running out in panic.

After reaching our house from the fearful scenario noticed blood oozing out from my feet a thought struck my mind that we have been cursed by the evil spirit staying in that house. Tried to get sleep, but that spine-chilling moments were still running in our mind. The clock struck 12 in the noon when we woke up the next day. Though we were away from that scary house, the night was still fresh in our minds.

A week passed by and we gradually got over that nightmare. We started playing cricket with our neighboring kids, after the match I and Rahul thought of scaring the kids with the incident which we had experienced, but it took a scary turn. They listened to the story completely without even blinking their eyes, initially, we thought they were excited as we were, but it turned out to be their daily routine to visit that house to search for a tennis ball while hit inside by someone while playing cricket. One kid among them started to analyze our story and said exactly what has happened and what have we come across. He broke down each and everything finely. From the initial opening of the door, which was our mere imagination as that house did not have a door for ages. The door banging sound have come from the factory which is just behind the house running on night shifts because of their overloaded work, the whining sound came because of the small gap between the windows and wind passing through those, the thought of someone following us was our own shadow in a deformed state as they were pointing the rays in opposite direction. In a panic, while running out from the house I might have unknowingly stepped onto the broken glass which was unnoticed in the dim flashlight.

Knowing our foolishness all laughed loudly, having a glass of juice we enjoyed our time.

For this reason, it is said that when you are in fear, you are out of your senses including common sense.
